Don Hinton improving

Maryann Hinton reports that Don is doing better, and has been moved out of ICU and into long-term care:

Dear Friends,

Don was moved Sunday afternoon, from Mercy’s ICU, to Bethesda North’s Select Speciality Hospital. This is great news. It is on the ground floor of Bethesda North Hospital, Room 121. It is long term care. I was suppose to have a meeting with them today, but due to weather, I canceled it. I have rescheduled the appointment for Friday afternoon. Before Don left Mercy on Sunday, I talked to one of his ICU doctors, who feels Don has a wonderful chance of a full recovery. We need the prayers to continue. He is in a private room, and is going to have dialysis 3 times a week. M-W-F. I don’t know what time? Yesterday, he was very confused, and thought everyone was trying to kill him. Yesterday his dialysis was from 12:45-4:45. His room is small, so there isn’t much room for anyone to visit. It is really better that you don’t visit him during dialysis. When I know the schedule, I will let you know.

He still has a trach, and feeding tube. He had to be restrained this morning because he was trying to pull out his trach. Thank you for your cards and prayers. After I have the meeting, maybe we can work out a schedule, when you could stop by to see him? That way not everyone will see him at the same time. I don’t know his schedule for his speech. He is talking much better with his trach. He still can’t write, because he is too weak. He hasn’t walked in 8 weeks. He can’t have blood thinner, so he has his legs wrapped to avoid blood clots. He thinks he has cats on his legs. I will keep you posted. He has been through so much in the past 8 weeks. I know he has to think he is in a bad nightmare. I pray that his nightmare will be over soon.

Don’s daughter just called me from his hospital room, and I talked to Don. I could understand him, and he talked normal. His daughter brought one of her son’s with her, and it brightened up his day!!! I had to share this. The doctors and nurses are trying to figure out what medicines to give him. Prayers that they figure it out! It will make such a difference in his recovery.

If you want to send him a card, this would be the address: Select Speciality Hospitality, Rm. 121

Bethesda North Hospital
10500 Montgomery Road
Cincinnati, OH 45242

God Bless You!
Maryann Hinton
